circular in action

ProViCycle

With this bio-based plasticizer, Proviron is paving the way for the transformation of the recycled soft PVC market.

A new bio-based plasticizer eliminates the need for phthalates in flexible PVC. This innovation also makes the material easier to recycle while preserving its technical properties, reducing the need for virgin raw materials. The next step is to scale up both the production of the new plasticizer and the recycling capacity.

“This bio-based plasticizer even has a negative carbon footprint, as it captures more CO₂ than is emitted during the production process.”

Vlaanderen Circulair has long been showcasing inspiring cases in recycling and the cradle-to-cradle economy. In a recent feature, Proviron had the opportunity to highlight its innovative bio-based plasticizer.

ProViCycle is an additive designed to make PVC flexible and it goes beyond traditional solutions:

  • Fully based on renewable bio-based feedstocks
  • Safe for both people and the environment
  • Ready for the circular economy

“The major challenge for the flexible PVC market is twofold. On the one hand, there must be sufficient plasticizer production capacity—something Proviron is actively contributing to. On the other hand, there is a need for greater recycling capacity, particularly from companies willing to specialize in the low-temperature recycling of flexible PVC.”

With ProViCycle, Proviron is paving the way to transform the recycled soft PVC market.  In November 2025, the product Proviplast 2755 was selected for the Essenscia Innovation Awards. In the meantime, this phthalate-free plasticizer has been given a new commercial name: ProViCycle. Because soft PVC deserves a second (and third, and fourth…) life.
