With a rock-solid case study on the world’s first approved vaccine against the RSV virus, GSK won the ‘Essenscia Innovation Award 2025’. The winner was announced during the ceremony in Brussels in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid. Alongside Anorel, Derbigum, Fairbrics, Indaver, Oleon, and Zeopore, Proviron was proud to be among the finalists.
From life-saving medicines to infinitely recyclable food packaging and transforming captured CO2 into a valuable raw material for textile fibers. The nominated innovation projects of the eight finalists of the essenscia Innovation Award illustrate the versatility and positive social impact of innovation in the chemical, plastics, and life sciences sector.
With this renowned innovation competition, sector federation essenscia has been shining the spotlight on innovations in chemistry, plastics, and life sciences since 2012. The jury for this edition consisted of François Cornélis (jury chair and chair of the essenscia Innovation Fund), Véronique Goossens (chief economist at Belfius), Inge Neven (CEO of VITO), Jean-Christophe Troussel (partner at Bird & Bird and chair of LESI) and Yves Verschueren (managing director of essenscia).

This fully biobased plasticizer with an excellent ecological and human health profile, has been developed by Proviron’s in house expertise to offer not only a premium processing performance compared to traditional plasticizers, but also to rethink the way PVC is currently processed and to greatly enhance the circular and sustainable use of plasticized PVC-articles.
Moreover, Proviron developed an innovative and highly efficient process technology for the production of this plasticizer, resulting in a “best in class” carbon footprint and significant reduction in CO2 emissions in the overall value chain for the related PVC-articles.
