Proviron was established in 1977 by Leo Michiels. It began as an engineering firm called Proviron Engineering and focused on the development of processes for environmental improvement; hence the name,\u00a0Process and Environment.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 1996, Proviron acquired the UCB Fine Chemicals\u00a0plant in Ostend<\/span>. This resulted in the establishment of Proviron Fine Chemicals.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Also in 1996,\u00a0Proviron America Inc<\/span> was established with a production site in Friendly (West Virginia). The site has similar <\/strong>activities to Proviron Industries and is dedicated to the American market. Proviron America is also the sales, marketing, and logistics platform for fine chemicals.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 2000, a sulfur silane production unit was built at the Ostend site. Silanes are used in energy-saving \u2018green\u2019 tires.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 2001, Proviron took over Sisas\u2019 phthalic anhydride activities in Ostend. The company also took over the site\u2019s central services, which were previously operated by BASF. With this, Proviron\u00a0acquired the entire Ostend site\u00a0with the exception of Huber activities. By the end of the year, the company employed about 350 people in total.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

On Tuesday 17 May 2011, Proviron CEO Wim Michiels signed a preliminary agreement to open a Proviron office in the city of Hangzhou \u2013 China. Proviron has had a physical presence in China since August 2011, where it intends to sell finished products as well as buy raw materials on the Chinese market.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
