Antwerp is considered to be one of the largest chemical clusters in Europe. The river Scheldt plays a pivotal role in this regard. It is the strategic maritime route that connects the North Sea with the heart of Western Europe. Proviron’s headquarters are strategically located in Hemiksem, a prime location on the banks of the Scheldt. The company’s advantageous location ensures seamless connectivity to the port of Antwerp and access to Europe’s largest chemical cluster, while avoiding the congestion typically encountered in the city of Antwerp.
Proviron’s headquarters are based in this location, as well as the production operations for our heat transfer fluids (Proviflow), animal feed additives (Animalhealth), and tolling services for customers (tolling). The site also houses an extensive R&D department, fully equipped with a state-of-the-art laboratory and pilot project facilities.

The Proviron site on G. Gilliotstraat breathes a nostalgic ambiance, quietly bearing witness to the industriousness of the region. At the time, the site was where the ‘typical tiles of the Scheldt tunnel in Antwerp’ were made. That modesty, but proof of solidity and innovation, still hangs over the site.
During the renovation of the head office, great attention was paid to preserving this history by retaining the building’s characteristic details. This stands in stark contrast to the modern and well-equipped laboratories of the R&D department. The site also features a state-of-the-art “pilot production facility,” which serves as a crucial link between the laboratory and large-scale manufacturing. This step is often overlooked in the process towards large-scale production, where our tolling department can make a significant impact.
At the heart of the site are the warehouses that hold our finished products from the Heat Transfer Fluid unit and the brand new ‘feed additives’ production, preparing them for transport to customers.
Sustainability has become a buzzword these days, a term that can be interpreted so broadly that it is used indiscriminately. At Proviron, we do not subscribe to a mere “window dressing” approach to sustainability, which is often touted with a superficial certificate logo. Sustainability is deeply ingrained in Proviron’s corporate ethos, which integrates processes and environmental considerations. The site features a brake fluid recycling installation, one of the first projects that made Proviron famous in the 1980s. This was the circular cycle avant la lettre.
