Recycling process

Since 1989 Proviron Industries nv is specialised in the recycling of used brake fluid. In this field we are the absolute market leader.

Brake fluids are synthetic oils, composed of a mixture of glycols, glycolethers, glycolether borates and additives. Since brake fluids are essential for the proper operation of the brake system of a car, they have to comply with extensive and strict safety specifications. To ensure safe braking, brake fluid is changed regularly, which generates a considerable waste stream.

The recycling process is developed in-house by Proviron. The process makes it possible to recover the basic raw material from used brake fluid. This recovered material is used as a raw material to produce fresh brake fluid. Tests shows no difference between brake fluid made out of the recycled material and new brake fluid; the quality is equal. All international specifications are met.

The recycling of the brake fluid prevents the discharge of several millions of litres of used brake fluid into the environment each year. The residual waste streams is limited and process emissions are an order of magnitude below European emission standards (e.g. TA Luft).
