Human resources
Working “value full” together on the future
In terms of HR, the past year was kind of atypical. On the one hand a number of employees left the company; on the other hand we have had to attract new people for specific projects (the esterification unit and the biodiesel project) as well as third party companies. Several internal mutations too caused additional HR concerns. The planned growth in our commercial and research services was realised.

Proviron values prevail
The known Proviron values, encompassing the sustainable triangle ‘production, people and the environment’, remained at the forefront of our HR policies.
We have tried to deal with the grievous accident with one casualty and two severely injured people, deploying all possible people and means. The people involved, their families, colleagues and all who are dear to them have been given maximum attention and care. This important yet difficult task was executed by the company with a lot of dedication.
Part time work increased to about 15%, adapted to the needs of the employees involved.
Training
A lot of communication was about testing the electronic system to detect training needs. A test team was used to draft an objective report which links function descriptions to competency profiles, using the necessary indicators. The system will in a later phase lead to concrete employee training plans.
A first training plan has already been written for the new “combination job” of electro mechanic, combining electricity and mechanics. We have also provided for training on technical and managerial aspects for employees who have the potential to become team leaders.
Job market
Contrary to what the media usually report, we encounter no major problems to fill our vacancies at the moment. We were able to find our new employees without extravagant effort. The transfer of the chemistry section from Hogeschool Oostende to the Bruges campus shouldn’t cause any problems either. It strikes us though how young employees turn out to be stay-at-homes and seldom consider leaving their region.
Recently hired members of our managerial staff too are high level. Proviron intends to remunerate and reward all these employees fittingly and in conformity with the market during their careers.
For blue collar workers in production and logistics we have performed a full wage analysis, a function analysis really, in conjunction with an external partner. Technical services are to be seen to later.
In the air
On land and sea and in the air … that is where our employees and their families went during the massively attended family day in the provincial domain of Wachtebeke. From rope climbing to a helicopter flight - it was all there.
