Methods of application and use Deicers
Cryotech E36® & Cryotech NAAC®
Proviron produces two kinds of deicers, solid and liquid. Both are based on acetates, and thus biologically degradable and more environment-friendly. These two products complement each other in the battle with the elements.
Application 1 |
Preventative as anti-icer |
|---|---|
When |
Chance of ice, snow or freezing rain |
Product |
Liquid E36® |
Use* |
Approximately 25 gr/m² |
Spray nozzle |
Smoothly spray, atomize |
Effect |
A film is formed on the surface to prevent ice, snow and freezing rain from bonding to the surface. Runways can mechanically be kept ice-free, whenever necessary. When the ice-clearing results are no longer satisfactory, the application of a new layer of liquid E36® might be necessary. |
Application 2 |
As De-icer |
|---|---|
When |
Temperatures from 0°C to approximately -12°C Thickness of the ice pack is less than 25mm |
Product |
Liquid E36® |
Use* |
Approximately 50 gr/m² |
Spray nozzle |
Jet blast, pressure improves penetration into the ice pack |
Effect |
Penetrates locally into the ice pack so it breaks the surface bond. Mechanical clearing of the runway is easy. |
Application 3 |
As de-icer at very low temperature |
|---|---|
When |
Very low temperature Thickness of the ice pack is more than 25mm |
Product |
Solid NAAC® (possibly combined with liquid E36®) |
Use* |
Approximately 50 g/m² NAAC® (+ approximately 7gr/m² E36® |
Spray nozzle |
NAAC®: smoothly spread pellets over the ice pack E36®: jet blast, pressure improves penetration in the ice pack |
Effect |
In contact with the ice pack, the NAAC® pellets become liquid. This exothermic phase change releases heat, the spherical pellets penetrate very easily through the ice pack. This way, the bonding from the ice to the surface is broken. Holes to the surface are also formed this way, that give E36® direct route to the surface. The NAAC pellets fix to the ice pack and are not washed away by more snow or rain. Liquid E36® can also be used as prewetting agent for spreading the solid NAAC® pellets, thus improving the reaction of the pellets with the ice pack. |
